TRIP OVERVIEW
The Mardi Himal Trek is a newly opened trekking route in the Annapurna region. Mardi Himal Base Camp which is situated at the base of Mardi Himal Peak with the backdrop of Massive Mt. Machhapuchhre. This trek starts at Kande taking one hour drive from Pokhara, the trail goes along small path through the beautiful dense forest of oak, maple, hemlock and rhododendron.On the way to high Camp you will be walking along the ridge from where you will be seeing amazing views of Mardi Himal, Machapuchre, Annapurna South, Hiunchuli and Dhaulagiri. Mardi Himal trek is the one that will give you classic Nepal trekking experience including villages, wildlife, panoramic mountain views and range of landscape from forest to high alpine. The mountain views from Mardi Base Camp are breathtaking.
OUT LINE ITINERARY
Day 01: Arrive in Kathmandu, transfer to Hotel
Day 02: Full day sightseeing in Kathmandu valley overnight in Kathmandu.
Day 03: Fly to Pokhara. Short drive to Kade and trek to Australian Base Camp
Day 04: Trek to Forest Camp (2520m) 5 hrs.
Day 05: Trek to Low Camp (2970m) 5 hrs.
Day 06: Trek to High Camp (3700m) 5hrs.
Day 07: Hike to Mardi Himal Base Camp (4500m) and back to High Camp for overnight
Day 08: Trek to Rest Camp
Day 09: Trek to Landruk (1556m)
Day 10: Trek to Syauli Bazar and drive to Pokhara
Day 11: In Pokhara
Day 12: Drive back to Kathmandu. Over night in Kathmandu.
Day 13: Departure home
DETAIL ITINERARY
Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu
Upon your arrival in Kathmandu airport, you will be greeted by a representative from Waiba Adventure Trek who will drop you to your hotel in Kathmandu. A full briefing will be given after you check in. Overnight in Kathmandu.
Day 02: Sightseeing in Kathmandu
After breakfast, you will be going for whole day city sightseeing with the Nepali tour guide to most historical attractions in Kathmandu which are also listed on UNESCO World Heritage sites. We visit the historic Durbar Square, the sacred Hindu temple of Pashupatinath, the famous ‘Monkey Temple’ (Swayambhunath) and Buddhist shrine (Bouddhanath), which is also one of the biggest Stupa in the world. The tour is likely to finish around 4pm and the rest of the day is free to explore around Thamel around your hotel as well as to pack your baggage for the trek starting tomorrow morning. You can leave a bag at the hotel with items not needed on the trek. Overnight at Fuji Guest House or similar in Kathmandu.
Day 03: Flight to Pokhara,Drive to Kande and trek to Australian Camp (1880m) – 1/5 hrs trek
After breakfast, we take the morning flight to Pokhara the flight time Kathmandu to Pokhara is 22 minutes with scenic mountain views of Langtang Himal, Ganesh Himal, Manaslu, lamjung Himal and Annapurna Massif. On arrival you will drive for about 40 minutes from Pokhara to Kande the trek starting point. Here we start our trek it is about one and half hours walk up takes us at Australian Camp. This is a lovely walk through Rhododendron and Oak forest. You will have spectacular views of mt. Annapurna and Machhapuchhre Range from here. Overnight in Australian Camp.
Day 04: Trek to Forest Camp (2520m) 5 hrs.
Today we continue our trek through out Pothana – Pitam Deurali and to Forest Camp. We start with gradual walk till Bhichok Deurali then we start to ascend continue along a quiet trail through a dense forest of oak, maple, hemlock and rhododendron. Tonight we stay at one of the lodges in a clearing of the forest at Forest Camp or also known by the locals as Kokar. Along the way you will enjoy the view of the Annapurna and Mount Dhaulagiri one of the seventh highest mountains in the world 8167m. Overnight in Forest Camp.
Day 05: Trek to Low Camp (2970m) 5 hrs.
From Forest Camp to Low Camp we walk continue through the dense forest of Rhododendron and other floras in the forest the trees are covered with beautiful moss. In an hour we will reach to Rest camp where we will have nice cup up tea after the tea we continue gradual ascend to Low Camp from where we will see fantastic view of Mt. Machhapuchhre. Overnight in Low Camp.
Day 06: Trek to High Camp (3700m) 3-4 hrs.
After breakfast we trek continue ascend towards to Mardi Himal passing by Bdal danda where the tree line starts getting thinner. The trail continues along the Mardi Himal ridge mainly on grass with some rhododendron and Bamboo bushes along the way. We will have magnificent view of Mount Annapurna South, Himchuli, Machhapuchhre and Mardi Himal. And on this section if we are lucky, we might see Danphe pheasant (National bird of Nepal). Overnight in High Camp.
Day 07: Hike to Mardi Himal Base Camp (4500m) and back to High Camp -7 hrs.
Today we have early breakfast for long day hike to Mardi Himal Base Camp (at an altitude of 4500m) First we walk to view point an hour and then to Mardi Himal Base Camp another 2 hours. Today we walk through the grassy ridge with couple of steeper sections however overall not too challenging. As the trip gets closer to Mardi Himal Base Camp, the breath-taking panoramic view of Mardi Himal, Annapurna South, Himchuli ,Machhapuchhre, Annapurna I, Gangapurna and Annapurna III. After the view we return to High Camp. Overnight in High Camp.
Day 08: Trek to Rest Camp – 4-5 hrs.
After breakfast, we will follow the same trail down today towards Forest Camp. Again we have stunning view of Mt. Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, and Machhapuchhre on the way down to Rest Camp where we spend the night. Overnigh in Rest Camp
Day 09: Trek to Landruk (1556m) – 4 hrs.
We retrace our step back till Forest Camp and then from here our trail separate towards to Landruk. From Forest Camp the trail steep descent down to Landruk throughout dense forest of Rhododendron, Alder trek and other more. We can spend the rest of the afternoon taking a rest and relaxing. Overnight in Landruk.
Day 10: Trek to Syauli Bazar -3 hrs and drive to Pokhara -2hrs
From Landruk, we follow the trail down to Modi Khola river cross the bridge and after crossing the bridge we have to watch out for wild Bee Hive hanging on the rock other side of the river its beautiful. Then we continue walk throughout nice terraced fields and small village with traditional houses to reach into Syauli Bazar which is the final walk of this trek from where we drive to Pokhara. Overnight in Pokhara.
Day 11: At leisure in Pokhara.
Today is a free day to rest and relax in Pokhara after the trek, go for shopping or sightseeing around the lake side on your own. It is possible to hire a boat to row out on the Phewa lake. Overnight in Pokhara.
Day 12: Drive back to Kathmandu. Over night in Kathmandu
Day 13: Final Departure
Our journey in Nepal comes to an end today! A Waiba Adventure Trek representative will drop to the airport approximately 3 hours before your flight time. Have a safe journey back home.
