Mardi Himal Trek

TRIP OVERVIEW

The Mardi Himal Trek is a newly opened trekking route in the Annapurna region. Mardi Himal Base Camp which is situated at the base of Mardi Himal Peak with the backdrop of Massive Mt. Machhapuchhre. This trek starts at Phedi taking 30 minutes drive from Pokhara, the trail goes steeply along small path through the beautiful dense forest of oak, maple, hemlock and rhododendron. On the way to high Camp you will be walking along the ridge from where you will be seeing amazing views of Mardi Himal, Machapuchre, Annapurna South, Hiunchuli and Dhaulagiri.  Mardi Himal trek is the one that will give you classic Nepal trekking experience including villages, wildlife, panoramic mountain views and range of landscape from forest to high alpine. The mountain views on this trek is breathtaking.

OUT LINE ITINERARY:

Day  01:  Arrive in Kathmandu, transfer to Hotel

Day  02:  Full day sightseeing in Kathmandu valley overnight in Kathmandu.

Day  03:  Fly 22 minutes or Drive 7/8 hours to Pokhara overnight stay in Pokhara

Day  04:  Drive 25 minutes to trek starting point Phedi and trek to upper Pitam Deurali (2200m) -5 hours

Day  05:  Trek to Low Camp (2970m) 5 hrs.

Day  06:  Trek to High Camp (3700m) 4 hrs.

Day  07:  Hike to Excellent view point (4200m) and back to High Camp take a lunch and trek continue down to Rest Camp (2605m)

Day  08:  Trek to Lwang(1500m)

Day  09:  Trek to Khoramuk 1 hrs and drive to Pokhara 40 minutes overnight in Pokhara

Day  10:  Drive or flight back to Kathmandu, Over night in Kathmandu.

Day  11:  Departure home

DETAIL ITINERARY

Day  01:  Arrival in Kathmandu transfer to Hotel

Upon your arrival in Kathmandu airport, you will be greeted by a representative from Waiba Adventure Trek who will drop you to your hotel in Kathmandu. A full briefing will be given after you check in. Overnight in Kathmandu.

Day  02:  Sightseeing in Kathmandu

After breakfast, you will be going for whole day city sightseeing with the Nepali tour guide to most historical attractions in Kathmandu which are also listed on UNESCO World Heritage sites. We visit the historic Durbar Square, the sacred Hindu temple of Pashupatinath, the famous ‘Monkey Temple’ (Swayambhunath) and Buddhist shrine (Bouddhanath), which is also one of the biggest Stupa in the world. The tour is likely to finish around 4pm and the rest of the day is free to explore around Thamel  around your hotel as well as to pack your baggage for the trek starting tomorrow morning. You can leave a bag at the hotel with items not needed on the trek. Overnight at Fuji Guest House or similar in Kathmandu.

Day 03:  Flight or drive to Pokhara overnight in Pokhara (820m)

After breakfast, we will travel to Pokhara by bus or flight on your choice, flight takes 22 minutes and drive is 7/8 hours. Arrive pokhara transfer to your hotel and rest of the day enjoy beautiful Pokhara around the lake side.

Day  04:  Drive 25 minutes to trek starting point Phedi and trek to upper Pitam Deurali (2200m) -5 hours

After good breakfast in Pokhara drive to Phedi trek starting point which is 25 minutes drive from Pokhara, once we arrive to Phedi we start walking straight uphill till Dhampus passing through Oak forest and then beautiful Gurung village. Along the way you will enjoy the view of the Annapurna and Mount Dhaulagiri one of the seventh highest mountains in the world 8167m. Overnight in upper Pitam Deurali.

Day  05:  Trek to Low Camp (2970m) 5 hrs.

Today we start to ascend continue along a quiet trail through a dense forest of oak, maple, hemlock and rhododendron. Tonight we stay at one of the lodges in a clearing of the forest at Low  Camp. Along the way you will enjoy the view of the Annapurna and Mount Machhapuchhre which is breath taking. Overnight in Low Camp

Day  06:  Trek to High Camp (3700m) 3-4 hrs.

After breakfast we trek continue ascend towards to Mardi Himal passing by Bdal danda where the tree line starts getting thinner. The trail continues along the Mardi Himal ridge mainly on grass with some rhododendron and Bamboo bushes along the way. We will have magnificent view of Mount Annapurna South, Himchuli, Machhapuchhre  and Mardi Himal. And on this section if we are lucky, we might see Danphe pheasant (National bird of Nepal). Overnight in High Camp.

 

Day  07:  Hike to Excelent view point (4200m) and back to High Camp and trek continue down to Rest Camp (2605m)

Today we start early in the morning to catch up sunrise view from the view point it takes about two hours to walk. Today we walk through the grassy ridge with couple of steeper sections however overall not too challenging. As the trip gets closer to view point we will see the breath-taking panoramic view of Mardi Himal, Annapurna South, Himchuli ,Machhapuchhre, Annapurna I, Gangapurna and Annapurna III. After we enjoy the view we return to High Camp and have a good lunch then trek continue down to Rest Camp overnight at Rest Camp.

Day  08:  Trek to Lwang village (1500m)  – 4-5 hrs.

After breakfast, we will trek down towards to Forest Camp, after enjoying the beautiful morning stunning view of Machhapuchhre. From Forest Camp the trail descent down through beautiful forest and once we reach down in the valley we will walk through beautiful Gurung village of Kalimati, Ghalel, Lumre and to Lwang which is famous for home stay and tea garden. Overnight in Lwang Village

Day  09:  Trek to Khoramuk 1 hrs and drive to Pokhara 40 minutes overnight in Pokhara

Today is our last day of the trek which is just 1 hours walk down through oak forest to the Khoramuk where our transportation will be waiting for us to take to Pokhara. Overnight in Pokhara.

Day  10:  Drive or flight back to Kathmandu, Over night in Kathmandu.

Day  11:  Departure home

Our journey in Nepal comes to an end today! A Waiba Adventure Trek representative will drop to the airport approximately 3 hours before your flight time. Have a safe journey back home.
