Helambu Trek

TRIP OVERVIEW

The Helambu trek is a perfect short trek nearby Kathmandu Valley. The Helambu Trek begins from Sundarijal, an hour drive from Kathmandu. After right away we enter to Shivapuri National Park and trek continue along the Chisopani, Kutumsang, Thadepati and trek ends at Sermathang,in the Helambu region. The trek passes through thick mountain forests with breathtaking Himalayan views and beautiful villages. The most important benefit of this trek is that the area is less crowded & free from noise in comparison to the Annapurna trek and some parts of the Everest treks. Besides this, the trek offers a wide range of cultures and spectacular scenery. Trek can be a best option for those who would love to taste both natural and cultural combination of Nepal in an easy way in a short span of time. The trek is a wonderful chance to encounter some rare birds and animals. Day 01:  Arrival in Kathmandu transfer to hotel

Day 02:  Kathmandu Sightseeing & Preparation for the Trek

Day 03:  Drive to Sundarijal & trek to Chisapani (2300m) Drive 1 hour, 5 hours trek.

Day 04:  Trek to Kutumsang (2446m) 7 hours trek

Day 05:  Trek to Thadepati (3650m) 6 hours trek

Day 06:  Trek to Tarkeghyang (2560m) 7 hours trek

Day 07:  Trek to Sermathang (2,610m) 3-4 hours trek

Day 08:  Drive to Kathmandu.  6-7 hours trek

Day 09:  In Kathmandu

Day 10:   Departure

DETAIL ITINERARY

Day  01:  Arrival in Kathmandu

Upon your arrival in Kathmandu airport, you will be greeted by a representative from Waiba Adventure Trek who will drop you to your hotel in Kathmandu. A full briefing will be given after you check in. Overnight in Kathmandu.

Day  02:  Sightseeing in Kathmandu

After breakfast, you will be going for whole day city sightseeing with the Nepali tour guide to most historical attractions in Kathmandu which are also listed on UNESCO World Heritage sites. We visit the historic Durbar Square, the sacred Hindu temple of Pashupatinath, the famous ‘Monkey Temple’ (Swayambhunath) and Buddhist shrine (Bouddhanath), which is also one of the biggest Stupa in the world. The tour is likely to finish around 4pm and the rest of the day is free to explore around Thamel around your hotel as well as to pack your baggage for the trek starting tomorrow morning. You can leave a bag at the hotel with items not needed on the trek. Overnight at Fuji Guest House or similar in Kathmandu.

Day 03:  Drive to Sundarijal & trek to Chisapani (2300m) Drive 1 hour, Trek: 5 hours

We make an hour’s drive to Sundarijal  it is fifteen kilometers north-east from the Kathmandu valley, our trek starting  point. We begin our trek to Chisopani along a small hydroelectric plant. The trail enters through into the Shivapuri National Park passing the gigantic waterfalls and rushing stream.  The first settlement we come across is Mulkharka inhabited by the Tamang peoples. Then we walk along the ridge through a dense forest of oaks, pine and rhododendron to Chisopani. Overnight in Chisopani.

Day 04:  Trek to Kutumsang (2446m) 7 hours

After breakfast today, we continue our trek to Kutumsang. Today we start with a descend crossing meadows and terrace fields. Enjoy the stunning views of the Ganesh Himal and Langtang himal. Thus we arrive at Pati Bhanjyang and Gul Bhanjyang. From Gul Bhanjyang, the trail climbs the ridge to another pass. Another downhill trek through the beautiful forest takes us to Kutumsang. Overnight in Kutumsang.

Day 05:  Trek to Thadepati (3650m) 6 hours

Today we climb continue from Kutumsang on a steep trail mostly through fir and rhododendron forest where there are no permanent settlements. The trek continues via Magingoth  with the breathtaking  views of the Himalayas such as, Gang Chhenpo, Jugal Himal, Nayagang, Dorje Lakpa,Langtang Lirung and many other more peaks. Finally, we arrive at Tharepati. Overnight in Thadepati.

Day 06:  Trek to Tarkeghyang (2560m) 7 hours

Today we trek to Tarkeghyang and it takes about Seven hours. First part of the trek, the trail steeply descends until we cross the Melamchi Khola. Now you trek gently up to Tarkeghyang passing through Sherpa settlements. The trail goes through beautiful forest of Rhododendron, Deodar and fir trees. Tarkeghyang is a beautiful Sherpa village with one of the oldest and biggest monasteries. Overnigh in Tarkeghyang.

Day 07:  Trek to Sermathang (2,610m) 3-4 hr

After breakfast trek to Shermathang, today the trail is quite easier because the trail is mostly level walk through the forests. We come a across beautiful village called (Ghangyul) on the half way to Shermathang. Shermathang is another pretty Sherpa village where you can visit local village and ancient monasteries. Overnight in Sermathang.

Day 08:  Drive to Kathmandu.  6-7 hours

Today after breakfast we drive to Kathmandu throughout exciting roads. After reaching Kathmandu, we freshen up and take a rest. Overnight in Kathmandu.

Day  09:  In Kathmndu

Day of leisure in Kathmandu, do some souvenir shopping to take memory back home. Overnight in Kathmandu.

Day  10: Final departure

Our amazing journey to Helambu trek comes to end today. A Waiba Adventure Trek representative will drop you off at the airport 3 hours before your flight time. Have a safe journey back to home, Namaste & see you again.
